Vacancy available for GP Practice Manager.

Join one of our well-established General Practices across Sussex.  Practice managers who work for us have the opportunity to develop a portfolio career, combining work in general practice with work in local community services.  Sussex Primary Care also provide training opportunities as part of the group.  SPC have six practices across Sussex with more joining in the future.

Main purpose of role:

The practice manager is responsible for the smooth, efficient and profitable running of the practice, and maintaining a happy and committed team. This includes the management of services, quality improvement, staff, finance, administrative procedures and excellent team building.

The post holder will form the key link between the practice and SPC’s corporate functions/support services. They will represent the practice and SPC at external meetings, as needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure good communication with all staff groups and good morale across the practice
  • Line manage key staff, as per the organisational chart below
  • Oversee recruitment and retention of staff and provide general HR
  • management, supported by SCFT’s HR team
  • Stay abreast of HR changes and requirements, with the support of SCFT’s HR team
  • Oversee staff induction and training
  • Maintain a training record, covering all staff for both mandatory and development training
  • Work with SPC on a practice-based Training Needs Analysis, implement the results and keep them updated
  • Ensure excellent communication between the practice and its registered patient list through a variety of media, including the website, answerphone, PPG and reception displays
  • Work with patients, their representatives and practice/SPC staff to enable patients to take greater responsibility for their own health
  • Maintain staff appraisals
  • Maintain all staffing and holiday rotas
  • Deal with disciplinary/grievance procedures and any other formal HR matters, with the support of SCFT’s HR team
